Cube Choir Concert

The Cube Choir from Square Chapel, Halifax are performing at Illingworth Moor Church on Saturday, 21st October at 7.30pm. Tickets are now available from our shop or you can ring Wyn on 01422 244494. Adults £6 and children £3 including refreshments. It promises to be a wonderful evening of music from this massed choir.

 

iPad/tablet drop in sessions

Following on from successful tablet awareness sessions across the Circuit, Sharon from Busoasis will be running a drop in session, on the below  dates between 1pm and 2pm at Illingworth Moor Methodist Church, in the coffee area of the shop. Tuesdy Fellowship June 2017

Mrs Georgie Stirrat presided at the June meeting of the Tuesday Fellowship at Illingworth Moor and introduced Mr Don Metcalfe. He talked to us about The Eden Project in Cornwall and how Tim Smit conceived the idea of building very large “greenhouses” (now called biomes) in an old clay pit. He told us about the fundraising required to build such a huge project and that it was finally completed in 2001 as an educational centre and visitor attraction. The Great Get Together

  The Great Get Together at Illingworth Moor on Saturday, 17th June was a fantastic community event. People came out in vast numbers and got to know others they had perhaps never met before. The weather was fantastic and the indoor and outdoor attractions were really well supported. Inside the Church there was entertainment from a variety of people throughout the afternoon, along with many stalls.Outside there was a free bouncy castle which was very popular, stalls, plants and an owl display. Tuesday Fellowship May 2017

Tuesday 9th May 2017 3:20PM

At the May Tuesday Fellowship Mrs Georgie Stirrat presided and introduced our ‘home grown’ speaker, Mr Wyn Markham, who gave an illustrated talk on a holiday to Iceland. He told how Iceland is now becoming one of the major tourist attractions in the world, showing pictures of volcanoes and hot springs and the most dramatic waterfalls. Mrs Stirrat thanked him for a most interesting and educational talk which everyone had enjoyed.

The next Fellowship meeting will be on Tuesday, 6th June when Mr Don Metcalfe will talk about the Eden Project.

 

Fun Quiz Night

We are having a Fun Quiz Night on Saturday May 20th starting at 7pm. You don't have to be a mastermind and people will be in teams so no one is put on the spot. It should be a laugh so come along and enjoy a good social evening. Tickets are £4 for adults and children are free. This includes supper and you can pay on the door.

 

Tueday Fellowship April 2017

Nearly 30 members attended the April Tuesday Fellowship meeting at Illingworth Moor Church. Georgie Stirrat led the opening and introduced historian Dr John Hargreaves. He spoke to the group about four people with strong links to Halifax and the surrounding area. These included the singer Susan Sunderland who sang locally with many choirs including the Halifax Choral Society and nationally for Queen Victoria. He then told us about a Minister known as Romany, who lived in a caravan, and became a children’s presenter in the early days of radio. Church Anniversary 2017

The Church Anniversary service at Illingworth Moor Methodist Church was held recently. We have now been in the current Church for 12 years but the history of Illingworth Moor goes back into the 1800s. “Hymns and Hers” worship group arranged the service and had lots of memorabilia around the hall for people to look at. Overgate Hospice

We are holding an afternoon tea in aid of Overgate Hospice on Friday, 24th February from 12 noon to 2.30pm. There  is a minimum charge of £3 and all are welcome to come along and support this wonderful cause.

 

Tuesday Fellowship February 2017

The Tuesday Fellowship Group at Illingworth Moor welcomed John Smith JP at their February meeting. John gave a really interesting talk to nearly 30 members about how the justice system had evolved over the centuries, before the introduction of The Magna Carta up to the present day. He showed many slides and also brought photographs of the court building on Harrison Rd which is now closed.
